Michigan
Technological University invites applications for tenure-track
positions in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Applicants
in all fields of biomedical engineering will be considered, but
the Department is particularly interested in applicants with interests
and experience in the area of physiological measurements including
sensors and instrumentation. The Department has an ABET accredited
Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering degree program and
a newly-established PhD Degree in Biomedical Engineering. Teaching
and research emphasize biomaterials/tissue engineering, biomechanics
and physiological measurement. The Department is building teaching
and research relationships with regional health care facilities
and research institutions and is looking for faculty members who
can contribute to this process.
The
anticipated starting dates are January or August of 2007. Appointments
may be at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level.
Candidates should have an earned doctorate in biomedical engineering
or related field with experience in biomedical engineering.
Responsibilities
include:
• Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses
• Mentoring and contributing to the senior design capstone
course,
• Developing a vigorous, externally-funded research program
supporting M.S. and Ph.D. students, and
• Promoting the growth and visibility of the program through
high-impact journal publications and presentations.
