Becky Klank wins 1st Prize at Undergraduate Research
Expo, Jared Cregg wins 3rd
Winners from the Undergraduate Research
Expo were announced, and Becky Klank and Jared Cregg from the Regeneration
and Repair Lab took home honors.
Becky Klank won 1st prize for her
poster titled 'Characterizing the Release of Interleukin-10 from
Agarose/Methylcellulose Hydrogels for Suppression of the Secondary
Injury Response Following Spinal Cord Injury.' This poster presented
her summer research into a hydrogel ststem that releases therapeutic
agents. In this study, Interleukin-10 was investigated for improved
regenerative outcome following traumatic spinal cord injury.
Jared Cregg won 3rd prize for his
poster titled 'Anisotropic Scaffolds for Nerve Regeneration Applications.'
Here he presented his work into tissue-engineered scaffolds that
present multiple guidance cues for directed regeneration of axons
following spinal-cord or peripheral nerve injury.
